Recognition

Taylor Bank has selected three area high school seniors as recipients of the Calvin B. Taylor Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship is for $1,000 toward continuing education expenses and is based on student accomplishments in the areas of academics, leadership, community service, extracurricular activities, and an essay.

One student was selected from each county in the Bank’s service area. This year’s recipients are:

Madison Johnson (Indian River High School), Caroline Gardner, (Stephen Decatur High School) and Joseph Teasley (Nandua High School).

Johnson plan to attend University of Delaware, Gardner University of Maryland, College Park, and Weasley, Virginia Military Institute.

Graduates

Over 650 students graduated from York College of Pennsylvania on May 31, including Thomas Albert of Berlin, cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; and Mitchell Forrest of Bishopville, with a Bachelor of Arts in Intelligence Analysis.

Scholarships

The Ocean City Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge recently awarded college scholarships of $1,750 each to three local students of Italian heritage.

Recipients are Isabelle Marie Kristick and Madison Alyse Birckett, both of Berlin and 2020 graduates of Stephen Decatur High School, and Danielle Elisabeth Morelli of Delmar, a Delmar Senior High School graduate.

Kristick will be attending the University of Maryland, College Park, Birckett the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and Morelli the University of North Alabama.

The Ocean City Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge continues a tradition started in 2010.The number of students receiving the scholarships is now 35, with a total of $43,000 awarded during that 10-year period.
