(Aug. 30, 2019) Summer is coming to a close, but there are still a few free activities to enjoy during the Labor Day weekend, ranging from ice cream and music at Northside Park to fireworks on the beach.
Sundaes in the Park
Enjoy the last Sundaes in the Park event for the season at Northside Park on 125th Street, Sunday, Sept. 1, from 7-9 p.m. while listening to the band Sapphire “The 80s Music.”
“Ocean City offers lots of unique opportunities for families and couples to come out and do a little bit more than the usual going to the beach or walking the Boardwalk or mini golf,” Special Events Coordinator Frank Miller said.
Participants can purchase and assemble their own creations with a variety of ice cream flavors and toppings for a small fee.
The show will wrap at 9 p.m. with a colorful display of fireworks, celebrating the end of the summer season. The ice cream event will take place inside the recreation center if weather is bad.
Residents and guests can also enjoy fireworks on the beach downtown near Talbot Street, which will begin at 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
“Ocean City always tries to bring opportunity for entertainment, and we provide that in some ways for free because we know it’s not cheap to go on vacation,” Miller said. “Ocean City offers free events, what I refer to as ‘value added events,’ to help make your experience just a little bit better.
“If you miss the fireworks on Sunday and you want to come for one last hurrah … come to the fireworks event on Monday,” he continued.
The event will take place weather permitting.
