(April 12, 2019) Celebrating 50 years this May, rock group ZZ Top will bring their celebration on the road with an extensive U.S. tour, including a trip to Ocean City in September.
Cheap Trick will once again serve as the tour’s primary special guest, with Lynyrd Skynyrd also on board for a pair of shows.
“It’s been five decades, and I think we’re starting to get pretty good at all this,” Billy Gibbons said in a statement. “We’re truly excited to be appearing across the continent this summer and fall, playing our bluesy kind of rock like we started in ’69. The beards, Frank’s excepted, are perhaps a bit longer, yet nothing else has changed. We’re keeping it that way.”
ZZ Top, who formed in 1969, will open the tour Aug. 16 in Ridgefield, Washington, and pack 34 gigs into venues nationwide before concluding Oct. 20 in West Palm Beach, Florida.
ZZ Top will visit Ocean City on Friday, Sept. 13, during BikeFest.
Tickets go on sale beginning Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m.
