Death

(Oct. 30, 2020) The identity of a man whose body was found on the beach Tuesday morning remained unknown as of mid-week as the investigation continued.

“This morning at 7:15 a.m., the Ocean City Police Department responded to 14th Street and the beach for a report of a body that washed ashore,” local police posted on Facebook Tuesday.

According to police, Ocean City Department of Public Works crews were out on the beach that morning surveying the area because of a recent oil spill in Delaware when an employee spotted the body in the surf and reported it to police.

Police closed the entrance to the beach for approximately three hours to investigate the incident before removing the body around 10: 30 a.m.

Police Spokeswoman Ashley Miller said as of Wednesday afternoon the victim has yet to be identified and that the investigation is ongoing.

”The body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be conducted in the coming days,” police said. “There are currently no known missing persons reported in the area.”

Anyone who may have information should contact the police department at 410-723-6610.
