Cintelle Schoolfield

Cintelle Schoolfield, 39, of Pocomoke City

(April 12, 2019) A 39-year-old man was sentenced to nearly five years in prison last Friday for alledgely threatening to shoot an off-duty police officer last September, the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office said Monday.

Cintelle Schoolfield, of Pocomoke City, will serve two sentences consecutively: three years for a reckless endangerment charge and 18 months for having a handgun on his person, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

Schoolfield was convicted of both charges on March 4 by Worcester County Circuit Court Judge Beau H. Oglesby.

Schoolfield was also charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to Maryland Judiciary Case Search. Those charges were apparently dropped.

Pocomoke City Police Sgt. Brown, who was off-duty, said he saw two men fighting about money on Sept. 19 at an apartment complex in Pocomoke, according to the state’s attorney’s office. Brown also saw one of the men, later identified as Schoolfield, had a handgun tucked into his waistband.

The other man told Schoolfield that Sgt. Brown was a police officer.

“I don’t care, I’ll shoot him [Sgt. Brown] too,” Schoolfield said.

Brown heard a gunshot after leaving to get his weapon, according to the state’s attorney’s office. Brown also said he saw Schoolfield flee the area.

It’s unclear if there were injuries.

Police arrived to the scene, but couldn’t arrest brown on Sept 19, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

An arrest warrant was issued for Schoolfield on Sept. 19, and served on Sept. 26, according to Case Search. Schoolfield also posted a $10,000 bond on Sept. 26.
