(April 12, 2019) A 38-year-old woman was arrested last Sunday on charges of driving under the influence after Ocean City police spotted a stopped car sitting askew across lanes on Coastal Highway.
Tiffany Louise Scott, of Clayton, Delaware, was charged driving or attempting to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving or attempting to drive a vehicle while impaired by a controlled dangerous substance and negligent driving, according to the police arrest report.
Police said a Toyota 4Runner was stopped around 12:41 a.m. at about 10 feet from the white stop line at the intersection of 74th Street and Coastal Highway. Part of the Toyota appeared to be in the far right lane, and the other part in the bus lane, police said.
Police also said once the light turned green, the car was going 52 mph in a 40 mph zone and was being driven erratically, according to the report.
Police apparently tried to stop the Toyota near the intersection of 94th Street and Coastal Highway, but the driver continued driving for several blocks before stopping near 98th Street, according to the report.
Scott failed to complete roadside sobriety tests, police said, and refused to submit to a blood alcohol concentration test.
