A West Ocean City restaurant is reopened after a fire burned a rear portion of it on Saturday night.
According to a post from the Ocean City Fire Department on Facebook, firefighters responded to a structure fire at the Bad Monkey restaurant on Route 50 at 9:43 p.m. on Saturday night after an employee spotted the flames and dialed 911.
Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, the post read, which prevented further structural damage.
The department’s public information officer, Ryan Whittington, did not immediately respond to requests for information on the cause of the fire.
The incident is under investigation by the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fire crews were seen wrapping up at the scene of the fire at approximately 10:20 p.m.
Although the building remains instact, a burnt section was spotted on the backside facing the park-and-ride bus station.
Comments poured into the restaurant’s social media page – some expressing shock and others happy that nobody was hurt.
Restaurant owners decided to close business that Sunday with hopes they could open back up as soon as possible.
And they did — the restaurant was reopened on Monday.
“We are OPEN again in West OC,” a post read on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “Thank you for all the kind words and support.”
