(March 23, 2018) Ocean City Police detectives arrested five men for allegedly agreeing to pay prostitutes for sex during an online sting operation conducted last week.
Early last week, detectives with the Narcotics and Vice Unit placed fictitious ads on websites, such as Craigslist and Backpage, which prior research had indicated were being used to promote escort and massage services.
Officers involved with the human trafficking/prostitution operation posed as a female offering sexual encounters for financial compensation using the handle, Get Lucky.
James Bradley Dodd, 43, of Denton, was arrested after police said he contacted the online ad last Tuesday at just after 5 p.m. and arranged to pay $80 for a half-hour sexual encounter. When Dodd arrived at a mid-town hotel at about 3 p.m. the following day, officers were waiting. Dodd is scheduled for trial in Ocean City District Court on April 16.
Ronald Claure-Comacho, 38, of Woodbridge, Virginia, was arrested for allegedly responding to the online ad just after 8 p.m. last Thursday and arranging to pay $95 for one hour of sex. Police charged Claure-Comacho with a misdemeanor prostitution charge after he arrived at the agreed upon mid-town hotel at about 11:13 p.m. His trial date is set for April 18 in Ocean City District Court.
Jerry Lyn Cumbey, 46, of Salisbury, was arrested after police allege he contacted the online ad at approximately 6:40 p.m. last Thursday and arranged to pay $150 for an hour of sex. Police were awaiting his arrival at a mid-town hotel at around 8:15 p.m. His trial is set for April 18 in Ocean City District Court.
Jeffrey Milton Linn, 54, of Millsboro, Delaware, was arrested for allegedly responding to the online ad last Thursday at approximately 6:50 p.m. and agreeing to pay $150 for an hour of sex.
Police detained him after arriving at a downtown hotel at about 10:30 p.m. He goes on trial in Ocean City District Court on April 18.
Joshua Scott Long, 33, of Dagsboro, Delaware was arrested after police said he contacted the online detective just after 8 p.m. last Thursday with a proposal to exchange $130 for a one-hour sexual meeting. Police arrested him upon arriving at a downtown hotel just after 10 p.m. He faces trial on April 18 in Ocean City District Court.
