(Feb. 22, 2019) A 34-year-old youth pastor was found guilty in Worcester County Circuit Court last Thursday of sexually abusing children, the Worcester County State’s Attorney’s Office last week said.
A judge convicted Stockton resident Rodney Harmon Jr. of displaying an obscene item to a minor and three counts of sexual abuse of a minor. Harmon could face a maximum sentence of 76 years in prison.
The state attorney’s office said “sentencing was deferred by the court pending a pre-sentence investigation.”
A child abuse complaint was reported to the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office last August, and deputies began a joint investigation with the Worcester County Child Advocacy Center, the state’s attorney’s office said.
Harmon sexually abused several children while working as a youth pastor at a church in Pocomoke City, according to investigation findings.
This article was updated to reflect a judge convicted Harmon, not a jury.
