The letter was sent to senators Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, Mitch McConnell and Cindy Hyde-Smith, as well as Congressman Andy Harris, and forwarded to Ocean City Today
Don’t dare excuse yourself from taking action to hold Trump accountable for this insurrection by claiming it will further divide the country.
How can we get any more divided?
This president put Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi and every single legislator, staff and policeman in harm’s way.
Five people died as a direct result of Trump’s actions and your own actions. And Trump left you all stranded, and never even asked about Pence or Pelosi’s safety.
For God’s sake and the sake of your soul, condemn Trump and the actions of the radical right extremist factions that you have all emboldened and encouraged.
Let us be clear that the majority of the 70 million people who voted for Trump do not support the insurrection of the government.
They support conservative Republican values. You knew the truth from the day of the election that there was no voter fraud.
By not acknowledging Biden as President-elect you validated the fears and concerns about voter fraud. You are supposed to be a leader.
Your job is to explain the facts to your constituents, not to remain mute to pacify them. And you have done this for self-serving reasons: fear of Trump’s wrath, and fear of being primaried.
The GOP and Mitch McConnell are the sources of much of the misinformation provided to your constituents. Every time one of you repeated any of the numerous false claims made by Trump, you violated your oath and you contributed to the demonization of all Democrats and the division of our country.
Our enemies couldn’t have harmed us more.
