I am writing in response to your April, 2 2021, Beach Barrels article.
This non-conforming business petitioned for an additional seven parking spaces to be “waived” with construction of permanent wooden deck.
Petitioner got six with requirement that one additional ADA marked space be constructed. Also deck in parking [is] lot exposed to traffic on three sides.
This will up the non-conformity to 18 waived.
Architectural rendering of proposed deck in parking lot only a few inches above asphalt with no pylons to provide safety for customers (See picture and article from previous newspaper of convenience store crash).
Multiple complaints were documented from police blotter. Petitioner stated publicly he personally reviewed and found no complaints.
Additional property available abutting with no parking needed to be eliminated. Evidence shown by POD recently placed on property of available site by petitioner.
New Business Model ...?!
Decision needs to be reviewed by higher authority. Parking has long been a concern for OCMD and will only get worse as time goes on.
Outside Drinking/Dining —YES.
Elimination of Parking — NO!
