(April 16, 2021) Coach Jody Stigler was pleased with the Stephen Decatur cross country athletes’ performance during last Wednesday’s meet in Berlin.
Three schools – Decatur, Pocomoke and James M. Bennett – participated.
The Decatur boys’ team won its competition, with 24 points. Bennett scored 32 points to finish in second place. Pocomoke had less than five runners and didn’t earn a team score.
Scoring points for Decatur were: juniors Tristan Dutton (second, 18:02.10) and Sam Woodley (fourth, 19:10), seniors Liam Foley (fifth, 19:36.40) and Silas Cascio (sixth, 19:38.60), and junior Gavin McCabe (seventh, 19:52.40).
“[Tim Synowiec] from Bennett [first place, 15:35.70] is the fastest in the Bayside South. I thought that Tristan and Sam both ran pretty well,” Stigler said.
Seven girls competed in their race.
Running for Decatur were: senior Avery Braciszewski (fourth, 24:41.30), junior Amalia Murphy (fifth, 25:13.50) and sophomore Ava Becnel (seventh, 32:00.50).
