(Oct. 8, 2021) The Stephen Decatur golf team wrapped up the regular season undefeated, 11-0, with a win last Thursday at Great Hope Golf Course in Westover.

“It was our most competitive match of the season and this should motivate us moving forward at Baysides and districts,” said Decatur Coach Dan Stearman.

Decatur scored a 173 and was led by sophomore Evan Oglesby, who shot a 41.

Also contributing to the victory was sophomore Kole Kohut (42) and senior captains Abby Wesche (44) and Jacob Bauer (46).

Parkside came in second place with a 176 and James M. Bennett took third with a 182.

“I think they are playing solid golf and they are really working on the little things that are going to take them to the next level,” Stearman said. “They need to keep the poor shots to a minimum and make as many pars as possible and not have too many high numbers.”

Decatur was scheduled to face the Kent Island Buccaneers for the Bayside Conference championship, yesterday, at the Queenstown Golf Links.

All of the Bayside teams will then compete in the District VIII tournament at Hyatt River Marsh in Cambridge, beginning at noon on Oct. 13.
