(Oct. 22, 2021) The Worcester Prep boys’ cross country team won last Wednesday’s four-school meet in Delaware, while the girls’ squad came in third.

Worcester scored 42 points in the victory. The top five Mallards to cross the finish line were: junior Jason Todorov (fourth, 19:48.1), senior Nicholas Hearne (seventh, 21:45.9), and juniors Cooper Ludt (eighth, 21:51.3), Rory Pugh (11th, 22:33.3) and Luke Loeser (12th, 22:46.4).

“Jason was the first one to break 19 minutes [this season]. He did well,” said Prep Coach John Zirckel. “The boys did well overall. Times were good.”

Gunston finished in second place with 46 points, followed by Delmarva Christian in third with 58.

Delmarva Christian took first place in the girls’ competition with 19 points. Salisbury School finished in second with 24 points, and Worcester recorded 35.

Scoring points for Worcester were: junior Caitlyn Hoen (third, 26:34), sophomore Madilyn Nechay (ninth, 28:23.2), freshman Auora Holland (11th, 29:40.5) and senior Sydney Lamson-Reich (12th, 31:29.9).

“The girls ran pretty well,” Zirckel said.
